The  CKD Bangle Bracelet™ - G Series is a custom made silicone design, crafted  emulate the first generation of handmade Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) bracelets. The unique, colorful bracelet was designed as a teaching aid to help educate the community about chronic kidney disease, its growing impact on society and the need for more living donors.  The initial design (no longer available) was hand made for Glenda V. Roberts by her husband, Cal Sturdivant and is no longer available or manufactured.  The original bracelet was designed to demonstrate his devotion and love as her life support coach and care giver. The bracelet can be worn by anyone, including patients, nurses, supporters, donors and loved ones to demonstrate their support for individuals with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Profits are used to support the OUI Works Living Donor Assistance program, which is dedicated to educating the community and providing assistance to living donors.

Design Significance: Green is the Kidney Awareness color. It's also one of the four colors that signifies the strength of Peritoneal Dialysis medication. Transplant patients take medications four times per day. The color mixture is a reminder to take medications and that transplant, like dialysis, is a treatment, not a cure for CKD. Finally, green is the color for the Universal Recycling Symbol. Appropriately, kidney transplant symbolies the recycle of life.
